Keeping a personal wind log is a low-cost way to build an understanding of the wind resource at a specific location over time. This tool lets you record the date, location, wind speed (in m/s), and optional notes for each observation. Entries are saved entirely within your browser using localStorage — no data is sent to any server, and no account is required.
Over days and weeks, your log reveals patterns: prevailing wind conditions, seasonal variation, and the best times for generation at your site. Download a text copy at any time, or print the table for your records. All data is cleared when you press Clear All or when you clear your browser storage — export regularly if you want to keep a permanent record.

How to use this tool
- Select the observation date (defaults to today).
- Optionally enter a location description so you can compare readings from different spots.
- Enter the wind speed in metres per second.
- Add any optional notes (direction, sky conditions, gusts, etc.).
- Press Add entry. The row appears in the table immediately and is saved to your browser.
- Use Download to save a text copy, Print to print the table, or Clear all to start fresh.

All calculations use standard, published formulas and simplified assumptions so beginners can build intuition. For real projects, always consult qualified engineers and site-specific data.

Where is my data stored?
Entirely in your browser's localStorage under the key tl-wind-log. It never leaves your device and is not uploaded to any server.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
All log entries will be deleted. Use the Download button regularly to export a text copy as a backup before clearing browser data.
Can I import data from another device?
This tool does not support import. It is designed for simple personal observations on a single device. For multi-device or long-term scientific logging, a dedicated data-logging application or spreadsheet is more appropriate.
How accurate is my average wind speed?
The average shown is the arithmetic mean of all logged speeds. It is only as accurate as your measurements. For a meaningful wind resource assessment, readings should be taken at consistent times and heights using a calibrated anemometer.
